Making Flour Naturally

June 23rd 2009 13:59
Did you know that you can make flour? It is true!! You can make yummy flour for baking cookies and cakes by using apples and pears, or a delicious and healthy flour for breads and rolls by using spinach, and carrots, or even flour in the wilderness for purposes of survival by using tree bark and wild growing foods/herbs.

It is fantastically simple. Just clean what you intend to use and follow these steps:
1. If the fruit or vegetable has a core, remove it.
2. Slice the item, for bark shave the trunk/branch of the tree
3. Dry the slices by sun, low fire or oven
4. Grind dried pieces into flour
5. Use as you would regular flour
6. Enjoy!!

June 9th 2009 13:52
External healing is very important. Every herb garden should contain herbs that will help heal external injuries which can include but are not limited to: bruises, cuts, rashes, sore muscles and inflammation. The following are herbs that I use in my herb garden for these things:
*use in creams with an aloe/lanolin/or oil (essential oils or vitamin E oil) base*

Garden Herbs: Indigestion

Choosing herbs for your garden should consist of herbs that can help ease indigestion. Stomach issues plague everyone during their lifetime so this is a critical item to have on hand in a working herb garden. I have chosen to plant the following herbs in my garden for this reason:

*all are used in the form of teas by chopping leaves and allowing them to sit in hot water until cooled enough to sip

When I choose herbs for my garden I make sure that the herbs that choose are things that I need for common issues. That way I get the most out of my garden and my efforts.

Sore throats are very common. This is something that I do not want to take medications for or rely on something that could possibly deliver side effects. Herbs are perfect for this problem. In my herb garden I planted the following for sore throats

Oh man! Skunks are the worst! Especially in the summer when they are out and about and so are your nosey pets. What happens when those sweet little furry friends get sprayed by that foul smelling odor that makes us want to scream? Well, here’s a home remedy for you that will work better than, well, anything else. Of course it won’t get the entire smell out, but it will work to a significant degree.

First protect your hands with rubber gloves! Seriously! Then rub tomato juice (a lot of it) into the fur of the animal from head to toe… but don’t get it near their eyes. LEAVE it in for a few hours. When you rinse it out rinse it with vinegar. Rub it thoroughly into the affected area of the coat. Let stand for a few minutes and rinse well with warm water

Fleas are a HUGE pain in the butt for your animals. But how can you get rid of them naturally without using toxic chemicals that might hurt your pet? Here are a few solutions that may help:
1. Orange oil from orange peels. Grate an orange peel with a small grater and rub the oil and small pieces of rind on your animal’s coat.
2. Mix these dried ingredients: garlic, cedar, bergamot and lemon balm. Rub into the animals coat or sprinkle in the bed of the pet
