Queen Anne’s Lace

August 13th 2010 19:11
Queen Anne’s Lace is also known as wild carrot. This is because the root smells and tastes like a carrot. The plant has many medicinal benefits but it can be confused with other plants. Perhaps the most deadly is the Water Hemlock. The differences include:
Water hemlock grows in or very near the water whereas Queen Anne’s Lace grows in dry settings like ditches or vacant fields.
The stem on the Water Hemlock is hollow while the QAL is thick and dense.

The medicinal properties of Queen Anne’s Lace:
Diuretic
Starts menstruation
Beneficial for the liver and kidneys
Helps the digestive tract
And more

However, it is also said that it can be used as a contraceptive. This is NOT true. Contraceptives are used to PREVENT conception whereas this herbs will kill an unborn baby. It does so by contracting the uterus severely

Yarrow and Queen Anne’s lace are often confused with each other. Both are used medicinally but for different reasons. It is imperative that you not mix them up when making remedies!
