Health Benefits of Food- Bananas

November 25th 2006 00:22
Bananas
Bananas are high in potassium
We have all heard how great bananas can be for our health. But why? What is in them that makes them so healthy?

Potassium is the reason. Potassium is a mineral that controls high blood pressure, contains significant amounts of fiber to help various health issues, and lowers cholesterol.

Bananas are wonderful for your heart and overall health. It is important to note that the bananas also contains vitamin C.

If you are looking for a food to eat on a regular basis that will keep your heart functioning properly and your body to maintain physical strength then the banana is the perfect food.

And they come with their own packaging.

I had always been told to eat bananas for potassium, but it was to prevent cramps from running track. I never knew potassium did all that.

Manda,

Bananas are a great food, just as you say.

Help stop appetite cravings, too.

Good , in quantity, for those who need to put on weight, probably good, in quantity, for anorexics too.

My dear little Aboriginal art and music post is looking very lonely, it's looking for some visitors.

See you soon. Good post.

Hi Manda!

Great post! I also have a post about bananas but it was on my original domain (that tries to collect Google Adsense fees for my mom's hospital bills), in a more detailed way.

If you have time you can go and check out at:

Hope-
Hi there. Yes, bananas are good for the skin, they tighten and smooth. Use them in facials and scrubs for a natural approach to skin care.

Manda,

We love our bananas, but can't afford them lately at $11.98 a kilo!! I discovered that dried ones are about one tenth the cost and really quite good too, whilst the banana-drought is on...

Lilla ...

Thanks Lilla! WOW- I can't get over the price there for bananas. Here in California we can buy a appx. 6 for a dollar or two.

Hi Manda!

You are most welcome. ^_^

It is always great to share information.

Wow! I am really in heaven here!

Bananas cost around RM2.80 per kilo (AUD about $1) and since it can be grown here at the tropical country we sometimes even get about RM1.70 a kilo (the smaller ones)

Jessicca- that's not a bad price for bananas. I feel sorry for Lilla.

Yes indeed kind of scary for the prices...

But for even Queensland to have such a price... I suppose they were imported bananas?

Here, in Kuala Lumpur, olives, cherry and those imported fruits cost a bomb as well.
