Medicinal Nature - Manda Spring

Amazing Mandrake

March 19th 2010 18:12

Mandrake
Mandrake has long been used throughout history. Native Americans used the berries for food and enjoyed it medicinal qualities. The English had a myth to prevent people from using the root because of its toxicity that declared the root to be alive rendering any persons that heard its scream as it was pulled from the ground insane. Witches also used the plant as a poison to kill. The facts are:
Only the berries should be used as the rest of the plant is deadly in certain doses.
The Mandrake does have specific cancer fighting elements.
Only educated/expert herbalists should use the root of this plant to prevent accidental poisoning.
The pant is also called May Apple.
The seeds and rinds of the fruit are said to be toxic, so great care should be exercised.
