Demulcent- helps lubricate and protect your mucus membranes from damage.

Stimulant or Expectorant- to urge the body to cough up all that hinders the breathing and be rid of excess mucus in the respiratory system.

Relaxant- when the tissues in the respiratory system need to relax in order to successfully cough up mucus.

Anti-Catarrhal- Catarrh is just another word for mucus. So, this would mean to cut down on excessive amounts.

Pectorals- is often used to mean strengthening the entire system.
