Storing Herbs for the Winter

Some people insist that freezing herbs is the best way to store fresh herbs but I tend to disagree. I don’t enjoy the freezer burned taste of anything so I am prone to using my dehydrator. They aren’t all that expensive and are in fact a great investment. I use mine for making my kids fruit roll-ups, fruit snacks, assorted trail mixes, jerky, banana chips, apple chips, and yes, storing those fresh herbs.
The reason I use this method is that a dehydrator usually only takes about an hour to crisp those herbs up so they don’t have time to get stale- this helps them keep their flavor which is a problem with sun drying by the way.
**Make sure before you use your method of storing those herbs you rinse the plants well, cut off the stems and them set the plants in a bowl of water for about an hour to be sure all dirt, dust, fertilizer, etc. is off of them.
