Medicinal Nature - Manda Spring

Planting a Medicinal Garden: Valerian Root

August 9th 2008 23:37
Valerian root is the common ingredient in valium. But unlike valium Valerian root is much better for the body because it is not habit forming and is all natural. The only thing I do not like about this herb is that the root, which is the part used, STINKS! Its pungent aroma is the only draw back.

Valerian is a superb sedative and tranquilizer. It is wonderful for curing insomnia and restlessness. If you can get past the odor it can be taken in a tea or dried and mixed with a drink of your choice.
